First Degree Practitioner

The First Degree introduces the student to Reiki history and concepts, auras and chakras, hand positions required for treating yourself, and others, and a special Attunement which opens the student to the awareness and flow of Reiki.
Traditionally, in Usui Shiki Ryōhō the outer focus of the First Degree is hands-on therapy at a purely physical level both for self-treatment and for treating others. However, the inner focus of First Degree is about learning to become a clear channel for Reiki. It is about learning to let go and let the energy flow, simply let the Reiki phenomenon happen.

Having developed the attitude of compassionate detachment from outcomes in First Degree, the Second Degree student is provided with a set of symbolic tools enabling them to set intentions and broaden the scope of their therapeutic interventions.
With Second Degree training, the student is introduced to a set of three sacred symbols during Attunement and is instructed in their use as a means of: enhancing the effectiveness of physical level treatment, carrying out treatment at deeper psycho-emotional levels, and performing distant or remote healing treatments.

In the Master Degree, two Master Symbols are introduced during the Attunement. With these symbols, the student's ability to channel Reiki is increased further. The student is attuned to the full Reiki Ray, and for those guided, the path of the Teacher begins its enfoldment.
As one progresses through the levels there can be a distinct and noticeable difference in the perception of effects and sensations of both the practitioner and the client. Being a Reiki Master is not a sign or guarantee of a person's moral fiber upstanding behavior, or any form of emotional or spiritual development. Reiki Masters are as human as anyone else.

You will know if becoming a Reiki Master Teacher is part of your destiny. Reiki Master Teachers are given knowledge of how to give attunements to students as well as helpful tips on how to perform a Reiki class.

The attunement itself is a powerful spiritual experience for most people. Many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions, and past life experiences. This is no surprise as attunements are “...attended by Reiki guides and other spiritual beings that help implement the process.”
This is the process by which the Reiki Master facilitates a clearing of any blocks to Reiki energy in your body, mind and aura by widening your energy channels to enhance your to channel Reiki energy. There are many different energy systems that use attunement. Reiki is one of the most well known and is an excellent all purpose system. It is easy to learn and is not burdened with a lot of esotericism or dogma.
